| Significance |

-
The Middle East Region (including North Africa) has a very significant and
important geography, not just from the point of view of demographics, but
economically and strategically it is a dominant part of the world;
-
Increasingly, there are common schemes for exchanging trade and since the
cultural aspects are of a homogeneous nature, it makes it more compelling to
work towards a common mindset for economic development and delivering wealth
and prosperity to the citizens of that region;
-
Other important regions in the world have worked on the development of regional
quality movements to promote their common interests. For instance:
-
European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM)
-
American Society for Quality (ASQ)
-
Asia Pacific Quality Organisation (APQA)
-
Asian Network for Quality (ANQ)
-
MEQA is a missing piece in the jigsaw and it will help bridge the gap that
exists between the various countries that are experimenting with quality and
trying to apply its principles to all aspects of the economy. It will assist in
creating momentum, synergy and help establish a common purpose for the whole
region.
